Montblanc - Birthday the Whole Year Long

In the world of watch-making the years of existence are mostly measured in hundreds. This year - 2006 - one of the most famous watchmakers - Montblanc - celebrates its first century on the market.

Montblanc is not just a watch-making company but a manufacturer of elegant and classy leather products (such as bags, purses and others), jewelry, eyewear and different luxurious writing instruments. Throughout the year Montblanc has issued different limited edition items, to celebrate this great event. For example in the beginning of the year there came out a pen, which was meant to be sold for 120,000 euros. It was called the Montblanc 100 Years Solitaire Mountain Massif Skeleton 2006. It was a skeletonised pen made of 18 karat white gold, of 1277 white diamonds and 123 very rare blue diamonds.

Today Montblanc Montres houses 60 people in a building, which is also one hundred years old and situated at rue des Tourelles in Le Locle. This manufactory building has been extended three years ago, thought it is already too small to be able to keep up with the production of Montblanc. At the moment the officials are finalizing the plans for further extensions of the building, so that the company could raise production.

The watch-making branch of the Company grew up immensely, comparing with earlier years. Today buyers from the 333 boutiques all around the world buy approximately 100,000 watches each year. Roderich Hess, the Company's General Manager, plans to double the sales during the next three years.

This time Montblanc decided to pay tribute to the beautiful creations of God - women. The company decided to issue for the first time a series of watches dedicated to women and it is called the Star Collection. This collection features two main models: in white and in blue. The Ministar Automatic Moonphase Diamonds is made of 18-karat white gold. This watch is designed only for women, because of its exclusively white design and elegant lines. It has only that what women might need - even the moon phase display is something women might need. The back of the watch has an aperture cut out in form of the Montblanc star. This is probably made for the most interested in mechanics. The white crocodile leather strap accomplishes the all-in-white design of the timepiece. Another version of the watch is the one with a blue alligator strap. On this model the moon phase is displayed on a royal blue display.

As a present for its birthday the brand has received a kind of present: Katherine Jenkins, a 26 year-old British soprano has agreed to represent the brand on different events. After she has already conquered the stages of the world with her beautiful voice, she has decided to keep on conquering, but this time along with Montblanc.
